Description

With the imminent arrival of Christmas, it is a great time of the year to take part in a fun Table Quiz, either in the classroom or in the school hall. This resource comprises eight rounds of six questions, a Tie-Break round, Christmas “Did You Know?” facts between all rounds and answer rounds and answers to all questions on 171 Powerpoint slides. It is geared towards pupils in the middle/senior end of the school.

Hopefully, there is a mixture of easy enough questions and some to challenge the better able pupils. The aim really is that pupils should be able to get a good few questions correct with the harder ones there to sort out winners.

Two different Pupil Answer Sheets (print two per page) and answers for the teacher are also included as downloads below. Homework vouchers and/or Certificates are also included in the download to use as prizes for the table quiz. Table Labels are also included.

Please forgive any mistakes that you may find and let me know of any glaring errors that you spot – I have proofread the presentation several times but something may have slipped through the net. As it’s in .PPTX format, you can edit the file as you wish. The quiz works best in presentation mode, so make sure you select to run the presentation as a slideshow to get the benefit of the transitions and animations.

In my own school, we organise a quiz like this in the school hall, where we try to make sure that each team has a pupil from 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th classes. The teams are not organised, but are in random order as pupils arrive to the hall eg 3rd class arrive first and are split into 30 teams; 4th class come next and are put into teams along with a 3rd class pupil according as they are in their line; the same happens with the 5th/6th classes, so there is no great organisation of teams.

Alternatively, you could run this quiz with just a single class or a couple of classes in a classroom.

The quiz is very suitable for the IWB in the classroom or in the school hall with laptop and digital projector. The aim is that pupils will enjoy showing off their Christmas knowledge, with a little competitive element thrown in.

Please let me know how you organised this Christmas Table Quiz and how your pupils got on with the questions. I also love to see images posted online of pupils enjoying the quiz!
